Telomere Testing

$435 (Phlebotomy done in-clinic)

Telomeres are sections of genetic material at the end of each chromosome whose primary function is to prevent chromosomal “fraying” when a cell replicates. As a cell ages, its telomeres become shorter. Eventually, the telomeres become too short to allow cell replication, the cell stops dividing and will ultimately die—a normal biological process. This test, which measures the length of one’s telomeres, reveals the rate of biological aging and is strongly correlated with risk for chronic diseases. It has been established as a superb marker for cellular aging. Therapies directed at slowing the loss of telomere length (NAD+) may slow aging and the progression of age-related disease.

Overall recommendations to maintain telomere length

Reduce all known coronary risk factors, inflammation, oxidative stress, ADMA (asymmetric dimethylarginine) levels, and angiotensin II levels or its action ADMA is known to inhibit nitric oxide synthesis and promote atherosclerosis. Increasing nitric oxide levels and arginine levels will increase endothelial progenitor cells, improve mitochondrial function and increase oxidative defenses.

What lifestyle modifications are likely to be helpful?

Achieving ideal body weight and body composition with low body fat as well as decreasing visceral fat is very important. Intermittent fasting and caloric restriction have been found to be helpful as well. Both aerobic and resistance exercise for an hour a day, proper sleep, stress reduction, and discontinuation of all tobacco products are strongly recommended. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) may decrease the rate of telomere loss.

Genetics Test + Blueprint Report

$624 (Swab test)

So much information just from a cheek swab sample! Empower your health and wellness and gain extensive insight into your genetic makeup and how your bodily system works by looking at 36 health areas/pathways that come from 6 main categories: cellular, systems, cardiovascular health, energy, activity, and nutrients.

This report evaluates over 134 genes that influence metabolism, inflammation, detoxification, performance, weight, hormones, cognition, and response to diet and supplements. The report includes insights into nutrition, fitness, illness prevention, weight management, and de-stressing recommendations. Genetic testing offers a means to examine the root causes of health issues and wellness at the cellular level and enables proactive approaches so that you can make optimal decisions to prevent/delay illness and maintain/improve health. Results in approximately 28 business days.
